Education, MVD to give duplicate certificates
The MVD will issue duplicate driving licences and documents of vehicles to the flood-affected people by relaxing the formalities and waiving the fees.
Thiruvananthapuram: The education and the motor vehicles departments will give duplicate certificates and documents that were lost or damaged in the floods. Transport Minister A.K. Saseendran told reporters here on Tuesday that the formalities like publishing newspaper advertisements would be avoided for issuing duplicate records. A certificate from the village officers concerned only would be required.
Steps to issue duplicate documents to the flood -affected would begin from Thursday. If required, special adalats would be held to clear the rush.
The education department has also come out with an action plan to protect the interest of school students who lost their uniforms, study materials, books and certificates in the floods.
DPI K.V. Mohankumar in a statement issued here has asked all students to report their losses to their respective educational institutions before August 31.
The department will finalise the list of students who required records before 5 p.m. on September 3 by compiling the information from the education institutions. Special cells at Pariksha Bhavan and DPI offices will issue duplicate certificates to students based on this exercise in a time-bound manner.
