Heavy rains alert in Telangana withdrawn

Temporary break from heavy spells for 4 to 5 days.

Hyderabad: Heavy rains that have been pounding Telangana over the last one week, have finally withdrawn, leaving the state rain-surplus by 21 percent. 

The weather forecast that included an alert for a flood-like situation forecasted up to August 24 stands withdrawn over Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh, because the low-pressure area that had formed over the Bay of Bengal and was supposed to bring rain to the two states has moved towards Northern Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, extremely heavy rain occurred at a few places in the district of Nizamabad, Adilabad, J. Bhupalpally, Jagtial, Kumaram Bheem, Kamareddy, Nirmal, Mancherial and Rangareddy of Telangana. While in Coastal Andhra the monsoon currents turned weak, moderate rain was reported in East and West Godavari, Srikakulam and a scattered spell over Rayalseema.

According to the present weather forecast, there will be a temporary break from heavy spells at least for four to five days, throughout TS and AP. 

Also, another low-pressure area, identified by the weather models which is likely to be formed over the Bay of Bengal in the coming week has indicated its movement towards North-West direction, that is over Orissa and Bihar. With this, the north-western and eastern states that have been facing rain deficit 
is likely to receive good spell.

Weather experts told this newspaper, “No heavy spell is expected for at least this week; the low pressure has moved towards MP and another weather system that is forming over the Bay of Bengal will be travelling over Orissa, Bihar and Jharkhand Hyderabad will witness rain or thunder-showers towards the evening or night on August 22. 

However, from Wednesday onwards, the weather will change to a generally cloudy day with light rain or drizzle. The day temperature is expected to be around 29 degrees while nights will be around 22 degrees.
