Hyderabad: Railway asked to upgrade CCTV system

They said the cameras at the station were not working well helped Monday's kidnappers escape.

The 10,000 new CCTV cameras being installed in the city are equipped with automatic number plate reader (ANPR) systems.

Hyderabad: The North Zone Police has requested the railway officials to upgrade the CCTV system inside the railway station premises as it would help keep an eye on criminals. They said the cameras at the station were not working well helped Monday's kidnappers escape. 

“Though the actual abduction took place on Platform-1, the women were not seen in any of the available camera footages inside the premises. The time stamp of them entering and exiting were taken down from the cameras installed outside the station,” said B. Sumathi, DCP (North), adding that the city police  has requested them to maintain the cameras inside the railway stations as well.
