Chhattisgarh: Maoist Gunned Down in Bastar Encounter, Weapons Recovered
Raipur: A suspected Maoist was on Monday gunned down in an encounter with security personnel in Orchha area under Narayanpur district in Bastar in Chhattisgarh, police said.
Acting on the intelligence inputs on the presence of Maoist formation platoon number 16 in-charge Mallesh, commander Vimla, Orchha Local Organisation Squad (LOS) commander Deepak and other members of Indravati area committee of the outlawed CPI (Maoist), a joint search operation comprising personnel of district reserve group (DRG) and Bastar Fighter, the newly raised counterinsurgency wing of Chhattisgarh, was launched in Bhatbera forest in the district, police said.
Later, an encounter ensued between them.
Security personnel recovered the body of a uniformed Naxal and two rifles at the spot after the encounter ended, police said.
The slain ultra was yet to be identified.
