UGC tells varsities to clean up
Institutions have to ensure cleaning of the entire campus and must put in place a garbage collection and solid waste management system.
Hyderabad: The UGC has directed higher educational institutions to ensure zero tolerance towards poor hygiene on their campuses as part of the ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ initiative, which will be observed till October 6. UGC has directed the institutions to implement certain measures and submit an action taken report including photographs and videos by October 6.
Institutions have to ensure cleaning of the entire campus and must put in place a garbage collection and solid waste management system. Other requirements are to plant 70 trees to mark 70 years of Independence and install rainwater harvesting facilities. Students and faculty must be administered a pledge to maintain hygiene. they are to visit a nearby locality and hold a hygiene sensitisation programme.
