90th death anniversary of Sree Narayana Guru observed
Regardless of caste and religion, public took part in the observation of guru Samadhi.
Thrissur: The 90th death anniversary of the father of Kerala’s renaissance Sree Narayana Guru was observed in SNDP yogams and temples founded by him on Friday with mass prayers and ‘annadhanam’ (mass meals donated to the faithful and public).
In Thrissur, at the Sree Narayana Baktha Pripalana Yogam (SNBP) at Koorkenchery, nearly 15,000 devotees and public attended the mass meal ceremony held annually on this day since the guru’s Samadhi (demise).
Regardless of caste and religion, public took part in the observation of guru Samadhi. At the Sree Maheswara Temple of SNBP at Koorkenchery and at the Sivagiri-model temple for Guru on its premises, prayers were held and devotees offered mass prayers since morning and fasted till 3.30 p.m. to join the mass meal.
On 09.01.1928, the year in which Guru attained Samadhi, he had reached Koorkenchery to form Sree Narayana Dharma Sangam with the aim to spread his teaching to the masses.
District unit of Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam had also held a mass prayer at Thekkinkkad Maidan in Thrissur where several devotees took part.
