Kochi: The much-delayed Phase II development of the Vyttila Mobility Hub (VMH) will finally get going with the newly appointed consultant starting the Detailed Project Report preparation.

A key meet will be held on Monday to be attended by the representatives of the Delhi-based consultant IPE Global Ltd and the Vyttila Mobility Hub Society.
“The meeting will finalise the plan from three options with respect to the infrastructure facilities mooted. The DPR will be ready in another two months time,” sources said.

The DPR will focus on providing seamless connectivity between various modes of transport like buses, metro, ferry/water metro, autorickshaws and cabs in a passenger-centric manner. The consultant has been directed to provide provisions for maximum open space while keeping the commercial area required to the minimum, just enough for sustainable functioning of the hub.

“The VMHS will put forth the necessities for the second phase of development, including passenger amenities, structural design, entry and exit points of the Hub and the requirement for open space. Another requirement is offering better connectivity between Vyttila Junction and Mobility Hub,” a VMHS official said.
Phase-II involves construction of 120 bus bays and an underground parking bay for 1,000 two-wheelers and 800 cars among others. A total area of 25.16 acre was earmarked for the second phase.
