Telangana: Migration puts men ahead of women in voters list

Hyderabad: The ratio of women voters is less when compared to men voters in the city. Officials from the election department claimed that only men who migrated to the city for employment have enrolled while home makers have opted to vote in their home constituencies in other districts of Telangana. As per the current ratio, there are 912 women and 952 men for every thousand voters.

According to the final publication of votes on March 24 under Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls, there are 38,06,819 voters in the 15 assembly constituencies in Hyderabad district. Out of them, there are 19,92,120 male voters, 18,14,069 female voters and 630 third gender voters.

Authorities received close to four lakh new applications during the summary revision of electoral roll.
