Traffic snarl at Kuthiran Climb
Vehicles got stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic on the NH for nearly three hours.
Thrissur: Kuthiran Climb on Mannuthy-Vadakkumchery NH between Thrissur and Palakkad witnessed a major traffic snarl on Friday with vehicles caught up in long queues in the seven-km stretch from Vaniyambara to Chuvannamannu.
Vehicles got stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic on the NH for nearly three hours. The tarring conducted by the NHAI contractor KMC is said to be one reason for the traffic snarl. Several vehicles are experiencing breakdowns on the road due to incomplete work done by the KCM that started in 2009 and was meant to be complete in 2012.
CPI central committee member Pannyan Raveendran who spoke at a protest organised by the party on Friday said that both BJP at the Centre and UDF are hand-in-glove in the corruption conducted by the NHAI and contractor KMC by delaying works of the Rs 1,000-crore project.
Meanwhile, activist of Kuthiran Action Council Benny M. Kodiyatil said that district collector T.V. Anupam was given a representation seeking her recommendation for a CBI inquiry into the implementation of the NH work by KMC by pointing out the violation of the terms of contract.
