Kurnool: Rich tributes paid to martyred policemen
District IG holds commemoration day for martyrs.
KURNOOL: Laying down one’s life while serving the nation is the greatest duty of a police officer. The police department was proud to salute the people who sacrificed their lives in the past one year, said Rayalaseema IG S. Mohammed Iqbal. He was taking part in the commemoration ceremony on Saturday at the district police station in the city. Meanwhile, Rayalaseema IG S. Mohammed Iqbal, SP Gopinath Jatti, Kurnool MLA S.V. Mohan Reddy, Kodumur MLA M. Manigandhi and others paid rich tributes to the policemen who have sacrificed their lives for the nation.
All officials received a salute from a ceremonial parade and expressed deep gratitude to the martyrs and their family members. The IG said that they controlled Maoists and factionists in heavily affected regions in the district. He called upon his men to work hard and ensure that they provide better services to the society. SP Gopinath Jatti said that as many as 383 policemen across the nation have laid down their lives fighting criminals and maoists.
Meanwhile, the SP read out their names including their family details. He gave a speech in rememberance of their sacrifices towards the country with a matter of pride. Later, the guests distributed mementoes and prizes to winners who won in various competitions which were conducted on the occasion of the police commemoration day celebrations.
