Not in party, but Nalapad leads Youth Congress rally!
The source added that Mr Nalapad is citing the excuse that he is free to participate in party programmes.
Bengaluru: The Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress protest to lay siege to the BJP's central office in Malleswaram over the alleged multi-billion dollar Rafale Fighter Jet scam on Sunday not only failed, it also caused a severe traffic jam on the busy Sampige Road in Malleswaram in the city.
The city police foiled the KPYCC’s bid and arrested the young volunteers who however started breaking the window panes of the bus they were put in to escape from the police.
KPYCC president, Basangouda Badarli too arrived at the venue more than two hours late adding to the confusion. Apart from this, controversial Youth Congress leader, Mohammed Nalapad, son of Shantinagar MLA N.A. Haris who was expelled from the party eight months ago and stripped off its primary membership for brutally assaulting a youth in an upscale restaurant at UB City, was seen leading the high-decibel rally.
Mr Nalapad’s presence in Youth Congress organised protests seems to have become the norm as many youth leaders in the party feel he has the ability to bring youngsters to protest locations, which no other young leader can. “One needs money to organise such protests, he is willing to spend, so he comes to the protest venue,” a youth leader on the condition of anonymity told this newspaper.
The source added that Mr Nalapad is citing the excuse that he is free to participate in party programmes in his personal capacity and not as a party representative.
“But this will only give the opposition parties a weapon to target the Congress. His participation is causing more embarrassment than help the party’s cause,” the source rued.
