Gadkari Approves 6-Lane Upgrade for Anakapalli-Annavaram-Diwan Cheruvu NH-16
The traffic has considerably increased on this route
Kakinada: Union national highways minister Nitin Gadkari has sent a letter of consent for turning Anakapalli-Annavaram-Diwan Cheruvu National Highway 16 into a six-lane road.
A Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been awarded for the purpose, said Rajamahendravaram MP M. Bharat on Sunday.
The MP had submitted a representation to Gadkari in August, urging him to six-lane Anakapalli to Diwan Cheruvu highway through Annavaram, as the traffic has considerably increased on this route.
Bharat said he has received a letter of consent for the project from the union minister.
The MP has said the Khammam-Devarapalli Greenfield Project over a distance of 160 kilometres is also busy with traffic. It should thus be widened into six lanes, he stated.
Bharat expressed happiness that Anakapalli-Srikakulam and Rajamahendravaram-Vijayawada highways have already been upgraded.
