Woman held for remarks against Madras High Court judge on FB

VELLORE: In a sudden development, a housewife from Sattuvachary in Vellore was on Tuesday arrested and remanded to judicial custody for her alleged post on Facebook, regarding some ‘queries’ raised by a Judge of the Madras High Court in a case related to the agitation by a section of Tamil Nadu government employees and teachers (Jactto-Geo), in the month of September.
Police said one Ms. Mahalakshmi, wife of Sivakumar of Sattuvachary had reflected on the Mr. Justice Kirubakaran's posers during the agitation in a post on Facebook on September 14 last, which was her “personal opinion”.
However, Mahalakshmi, during police investigations said that she had not expressed any views on her own, but had only shared a piece of information that was then being circulated in the social media network.
Mahalakshmi was produced before a Vellore court today and remanded to 15 days judicial custody in connection with the case filed by the Vellore South police station. She was later lodged in the women's cell of the Vellore central prison.
