BENGALURU: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths investigating the multi-crore Ambidant Ponzi scam and a money laundering and a bribe case involving mining baron and former BJP minister Gali Janardhana Reddy, have reportedly recovered a mobile phone belonging to Reddy's domestic help Jayaram from a well.

Jayaram had allegedly disposed of his mobile phone on instructions from Reddy's close aide Mehfuz Ali Khan. The phone has been sent to Forensic Science Laboratory for inspection.

According to sources, after recently recording Jayaram's statement, the CCB had questioned him regarding the deal between him and Janardhan, the brother of Ballari-based jeweler Ramesh, on exchanging of gold with cash near Oni Muneshwar Temple in Chalukya Circle.

Khan allegedly had sent Jayaram to collect the cash which was later brought to him at Reddy's house 'Parijatha'.

Khan, who is in judicial custody till November 27, had allegedly instructed Jayaram to dispose of the mobile he was using to communicate with him.

Jayaram had dumped the mobile in a well from where the police reportedly recovered it and sent it to FSL.

The gold in question was part of the bribe Reddy had allegedly demanded from the owner of Ambidant Marketing Pvt Ltd Syed Fareed Ahmed to help him bail out from Enforcement Directorate investigation.

Reddy was also arrested in connection with money laundering and bribery case and was later released on bail by a local court.

Khan, who had earlier secured interim bail after his name  figured in the money laundering and bribe case, surrendered before the court on Tuesday, after the 61st CCH court cancelled his bail. He was later sent to judicial custody till November 27.
