BJP in poll gear: Appoints pointsmen for all 28 LS seats
The decision to appoint election in-charge and coordinator was taken at a meeting of the core committee held here on Tuesday.
BENGALURU: Leaders of the state unit of BJP have commenced preparations for next year’s Lok Sabha elections in right earnest with the appointment of senior leaders, including former chief minister Jagadish Shettar and former deputy chief minister R Ashoka, as election in-charge and coordinator for each of the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies.
Sources in BJP said these leaders would chair meetings with district unit leaders and party cadre and assign them tasks including organization of rallies of national and state leaders in their respective constituencies. They would also execute other tasks assigned to them by state unit president and former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa.

Sources said Mr Ashoka, appointed coordinator for Bengaluru (South) constituency, would work as Subba Narasimha’s deputy in the constituency, as the party felt it should not burden the former home minister with additional work given the fact that Union minister H N Ananth Kumar, who represented the seat, passed away recently. Other key leaders appointed to these posts are former minister K.S. Eshwarappa (Mysuru- Kodagu),
C.T. Ravi (Hassan), Govind Karjol (Dharwad), Basavaraj Bommai ( Haveri), B Sreeramalu (Koppal), Sunil Kumar (Dakshina Kannada), Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri (Shivamogga), Araga Jnanedra
( Udupi- Chikkamagaluru, and Mr Shettar (Ballari) respectively.
