Visakhapatnam: Venting out their anger, passengers are taking to Twitter complaining about the never-ending queues at the city airport for security-checks during peak hours.  The queue was so long on Thursday that there was no space on the counter line to stand as well. Some passengers tweeted the pictures urging the airport authorities to address the issues and marking the union aviation minister and AP CM Chandrababu Naidu.

Posing a picture of the long queue, M. Kiran Kumar said, “The people in the queue crossing the counters and no more space to go beyond it. Are there any plans in consideration to speed up the security checking process and bring down the check-in time? Please do check with the passengers to find out the difficulties they are facing.”

“There are so many pleas to increase the staff at the security checkpoints and also the belts to speed up the process. However, it is taking so long to respond to the Tweets,” he added. Venkati Boddeti, another passenger, tweets that they need to increase the security check and scanners during the peak hours. Another tweet reads soon the line queue will extend to even parking area.

The Vizag Airport Director twitter handle, however, responded to the complaints saying additional staff strength has been sanctioned and are in process of joining in phases. The situation will improve by end of January 2018. Despite not having the special manpower to manage the complaint redressal system on Twitter, the airport director himself is responding the tweets as many people are registering their grievances through this micro-messaging platform.

When contacted, Vizag airport director G Prakash Reddy said, “The process to address the issue is going on. Queues are long only during peak hours in the morning for one to two hours maximum. After that, there would not be issues.” To top it all the SBI ATM reportedly is not working, much to the disappointment of regular fliers. “Guys has anyone checked SBI ATM outside departure? The number panel, the numerical 2, is not functioning. And, people are just going there to waste their time there,” another Tweet read.
