Chennai: The Madras high court has granted anticipatory bail to Ranvir Shah and Kiran Rao, who apprehended arrest in connection with the seizure of several idols from their residences by the Idol Wing-CID in the month of September.
Granting anticipatory bail to them, a division bench comprising Justices R.Mahadevan and P.D.Audikesavalu said they were inclined to grant anticipatory bail to them as the Idol Wing-CID could not even move an inch in the investigation or nab the suspects from September.
Therefore at least now the accused could appear before the Idol wing and co-operate with the investigation, the bench added.
The bench granted anticipatory bail to them on the condition that they should execute a bond for '1 lakh each with two sureties each for a like sum to the satisfaction of the Special Court for idol theft cases in Kumbakonam.
