Visakhapatnam: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy came down heavily on the Opposition parties, particularly Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan, saying on Thursday that they were “making fresh plans to loot the people of AP.”

The chief minister was speaking after distributing tabs to school students at a public meeting in Chintapalli.

He said this “gang of thieves” led by the previous TD government had created Janma Bhoomim committee and looted the state while “involving themselves in liquor, sand, fibrenet and skill development scams during their five year rule.”

The chief minister said the two leaders – Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan -- with the help of their friendly media have been churning out false stories and publishing questionable content “as they are envious of the popularity of my government and the YSRCP.”

He said there was false news in a section of the media that distribution of free tabs would spoil and corrupt the minds of students. “While the government has been spending crores of rupees on educational reforms, the opposition and its media have been throwing mud on the government out of frustration.”

TD chief Chandrababu Naidu and his foster son Pawan Kalyan have been opposing distribution of tabs, he said and questioned if children from poor families are not eligible to acquire modern knowledge.

“Is it justified if poor people are not allowed to join English medium schools while the rich boys are studying in corporate schools and acquiring knowledge of modern subjects,’’ he asked.

The chief minister asked the people not to fall prey to the “false assurances” of the TD and Jana Sena and said that the expected cost of their election promises would be three -times higher than the present welfare budget.

“While Naidu and his bandwagon were busy making money in scandalous deals and pursuing the policy of plunder, stash and devour during the TDP rule, the present government spent over ' 2, 40,000crore on DBT welfare schemes. We treat our election manifesto as the Bible, Quran and Bhagavad Gita,” he said.

Asserting that he only depends on God and the people, Jagan Mohan Reddy asked them to vote for the YSRCP in the next elections if they believed they benefited from the welfare schemes.
