Letter on students' suicide turns a pil
He wrote that most private colleges in the two states belonged to a Cabinet minister of AP.
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad HC has taken up as a public interest litigation, a letter seeking a direction to the TS and AP governments to take appropriate steps to prevent suicide of students in private colleges.
Mr Dasari Emmanuel, district co-convener of Lok Satta Agitation Society from Prakasam district, had written to the Chief Justice of the Hyderabad HC urging the court to intervene in the matter as several students had committed suicides in private colleges.
He wrote that most private colleges in the two states belonged to a Cabinet minister of AP. Though there was an announcement by the AP government that a committee had been constituted to look into the issue of suicides, there was no evidence to show that the committee had submitted a report.
He requested the court to direct both the governments register cases against the managements of the colleges where students have committed suicide.
