Rajahmundry: BJP MLC Somu Veerraju has asked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu why he was getting nervous if the National Investigation Agency was probing the knife attack on YSR Congress chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, the BJP national executive committee member, referred to the AP CM writing a letter to PM Narendra Modi expressing his objection over handing over the case to NIA. He also referred to the AP government approaching the High Court seeking a stay order on handing over the case to NIA. He wondered why Mr Naidu was trying to create a series of hurdles in the ongoing probe on the issue and asked if the CM was becoming more apprehensive that his role in the attack might be exposed in the probe.

He slammed the AP government for availing Central funds and launching welfare schemes with them and claiming credit for them and asked how far it could be justified by giving the names of CM and late CM N.T. Rama Rao for several welfare schemes in the state. He emphasised that the projects were being implemented with the help of Central funds. He reiterated the Centre’s commitment to fund the execution of the Polavaram irrigation project cent per cent.

The BJP senior leader turned critical about Mr Naidu for trying to create enmity between the poor from upper castes and the Kapus as Mr Naidu had assured to provide five per cent reservation to Kapus from the 10 per cent reservation announced by the Centre to the economically weaker sections from upper castes recently. He advised Mr Naidu to find out the feasibility of his proposal to provide five per cent reservation to Kapus before announcing it openly as it would create animosity between two social groups.
