Significant fall in new COVID cases across Telangana

Hyderabad: There was a significant fall in the number of new Covid-19 cases in Telangana on Sunday compared to a day earlier. The health department reported 3,603 new cases on Sunday as against Saturday’s 4,393.

However, the figure corresponded with a fall in the number of tests that were conducted. It stood at 93,397 tests on Sunday while it was 1,16,224 on Saturday.

With one death due to the virus, the overall toll in the state stands at 4,072.

Around 2,707 patients recovered from the virus on the day while the number of active cases increased to 32,094.

GHMC, with 1,421 cases (1,643 on Saturday), recorded the most new cases in the state, followed by Medchal Malkajgiri with 304 cases, Rangareddy 262, Hanamkonda 150 and Karimnagar 98 cases.

In both government and private hospitals, 1,112 ordinary beds, 1,291 oxygen beds and 804 ICU beds were occupied by Covid patients.
