Chennai: Three commit suicide in separate incidents

Chennai: Three persons, including a distraught mother whose son committed suicide, and a septuagenarian who clubbed his son, ended their lives in separate incidents on Sunday.
The first incident was reported at MMDA colony where Manikandan, (12), a class VII student, was found dead hanging when his mother Ganeshwari returned home around 2 pm. Estranged from the patriarch living with his elder daughter in Sivagangai district for five years, Ganeshwari, who earned her livelihood by tailoring, moved to Chennai along with Manikandan a month ago.
Later, Ganeshwari developed a relationship with another man from Sivagangai which did not go down well with her son. Ganeshwari who went for a meeting with her boyfriend on Sunday returned home only to find her son dead.
Ganeshwari discreetly cremated her son's body at a crematorium in the locality with the help of her boyfriend to evade police probe. She returned home around 8 pm from the crematorium. Neighbours who came to mourn Manikandan's death found his mother hanging from the same ceiling fan in which he had hanged.
Neighbours alerted Maduravoyal police. The body was moved to KMC Hospital.
In the other incident, Dhanapal, (75), of Ananthapuram, East Tambaram, living with his son Gokul, (35), a casual labourer, hanged from the ceiling after putting the latter in a private hospital in a bruised state, on Sunday night.

When the entire family was looking after Gokul, Dhanapal was left to face the jibes of neighbours. A distraught Dhanapal was found dead by the family around 11 pm.
