Guntur district village in the grip of dengue
450 and out of this 250 have been suffering from the fever.
Guntur: Around half of the villagers of Ramachandrapuram in Chilakaluripet mandal in Guntur district have been suffering from dengue since the last couple of months.
The population of the small village is roughly 450 and out of this approximately 250 have been suffering from the fever. Every house has at least one dengue patient, many of them being small kids like D. Nihali, aged just a few months. Her father Mr. Dodda Ramakrishna, an employee at Vignan’s Deemed University has spent Rs 1 lakh on hospital expenses. He also revealed that another Rs 1 lakh was spent on her grandmother, who lives in the same house. Both these cases happened simultaneously.
Mr. Ramakrishna added that the kid’s maternal father also suffered from dengue recently. The village is located 10 km away from Chilakaluripet, represented by minister for agriculture P. Pulla Rao.
Mr. Ramakrishna stated that in that in his house there are four dengue patients, including his wife and daughter and his parents-in-law. He explained that three of them had fever except his wife. Now, he shifted his wife and daughter to Guntur fearing the worst.
Strangely enough, DM&HO T. Padmaja Rani denied the allegation and said not even a single case of dengue has been recorded in the district.
