Isro's space tech to find groundwater

The state has issued order to release Rs. 544. 71 crore to all Zilla Panchayats to provide drinking water during summer. There is no scarcity of funds for drinking water, government has made all necessary steps to provide water, Mr Patil said.

Bengaluru: The state government has decided to take the scientific assistance of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to trace water sources in the state.

Addressing mediapersons here on Monday, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj minister H.K. Patil said that he will meet ISRO Chairman Dr Kiran Kumar in a day or two to take assistance from ISRO to trace the water sources in view of approaching summer. ISRO has done mapping in this regard and its technical assistance would help the department trace water sources, Mr Patil said.

“A few days back, I met ISRO honorary professor Radhakrishna Pillai and discussed their work on water sources and mapping. With the help of ISRO’s research and findings, we can find solutions to the drinking water problem in a few districts,” Mr Patil explained.
