Tourism to get fillip in Godavari districts

Rs 24 crore worth projects taken up for roads, amenities.

Rajahmundry: The state tourism development corporation is taking up several projects at a cost of Rs 24 crore to promote tourism in a big way in Godavari districts. The APTDC is de-veloping Sambhuni Che-ruvu and other amenities at Palacole and Per-upalem beach in West Godavari.

A large number of tourists visit Perupalem beach located near Nar-asapuram. Tenders for the projects were called for and they will be finalised shortly.

The authorities are also developing the Kakinada beachfront un-der Central government scheme Swadesh Dars-han.

Infrastructure like roads and other amenities including supply of drinking water and toilets will be developed.

Service boats with limited seating capacity will be pressed into service for tourists who want to enjoy a boat ride in the cool waters.

Boating will also be promoted in the back waters in a creek located nearby. Pedal boats and speed boats will be made available.

Tenders for the project have already been called and they may be fina-lised in a week.

Under the same Swad-esh Darshan scheme, the authorities are also taking up development of beaches at Vodalarevu, S. Yanam, Chira Yanam and Adurru.

A large number of people from several parts in East Godavari arrive at coastal villages during weekends to spend time with family and friends. The authorities will provide excellent amenities in all areas for them.

APTDC executive engineer S. Srinivasa Rao said, “We are taking up several projects including development of tan-ks and beaches along the coastal villages to promote tourism on a large scale in both the districts. Once the development of infrastructure is over, the tourists can   enjoy it to the fullest.
