Kasargod: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has criticised the thoughtless action of a few party workers that resulted in the Periya twin murder.

“I hang my head in shame in front of the people as the deeds of a few have brought shame to the government which was performing well on all counts. It was a heinous murder. The party will not support such crimes,” he said while addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stone for the CPM district committee office here on Friday.

“Strict orders have been given to the police to take appropriate action against the culprits,” he said.

Referring to those who campaign against the party in the wake of the murders, Mr Vijayan said, “this party cannot be destroyed by such campaigns.  The future of this party is neither at the tip of their tongues nor at the nib of their pens. But the thoughtless deeds of a few have given a chance to such elements to intervene in party affairs,” he added.

Giving a warning to those who had attacked CPM offices and houses of party workers, Mr Vijayan said that the goons who unleashed terror in the area post-murder also would face strict action.
