Hyderabad: A deer, which accidentally fell into a farm well in Masidpu, under Abdullapurmet police station limits, was rescued on Saturday. A farmer, who was watering his fields, heard some noises coming out of the well and spotted the deer struggling to come out.

According to Chandraya, who saw four dogs chasing a deer, told Deccan Chronicle, “I saw four dogs chasing an animal from a distance. I did not think it was a deer as none expected to see deer coming to concrete jungle. I was sure it was deer. We soon alerted the locals to call forest officers. Meanwhile, locals gathered at the spot in good numbers and managed to retrieve the animal from the well.”  “As soon as we received the phone call, we rushed to the spot. On finding the animal struggling in the 100-metre deep well, we arranged  motors and removed more than one meter of water from the well. Luckily, there was a rock in between and the deer took its support to stand,” said Indrasena Reddy, deputy forest range officer.

The female deer, which became unconscious, sustained minor injuries on the left side of the neck. It was back to normal after medication. It was subsequently handed over to Nehru Zoological Park.
