Hyderabad: TS Telugu Desam Floor leader A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday alleged that 25 acres of prime land in Shaikpet has been encroached by a developer, in violation of rules. The MLA also alleged that officials were turning a blind eye to the encroachment even after being informed about it.

Mr Revanth Reddy stated that the said developer was demarcating plots in Survey Nos. 41, 174,181, 21 of Shaikpet with the aim of selling them and mint crores of rupees. He also alleged that the encroacher was showing a group photograph in which he was seen alongside IT minister K.T. Rama Rao to influence officials.

Speaking in the Assembly on Tuesday, Mr Revanth Reddy said that conversion of agriculture land to non-agriculture land was also not done in the case.
He requested Mr Rama Rao to take note of the issue and crack the whip against violators.

The TD leader was highly critical of officials for misleading the House as regards number of mandals in Telangana. “In one book the figure was shown as 433 mandals and in another book it was given as 436 mandals. What is the correct figure,” he asked. Further, he wanted to know whether the seven mandals that were merged with AP for construction of Polavaram project were also included in the list.
