Hyderabad: Union Law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Wednesday assured the Lok Sabha that once the new buildings are ready, the Centre will take steps to establish a separate high court for AP in Amaravati as per the AP Reorganisation Act.

Replying to a question by TD MP Thota Narasimham during Question Hour, Mr Prasad said that the Centre was willing to bifurcate the existing High Court at Hyderabad even now if the AP government shows the buildings to establish the separate HC for AP. TRS Members present in the House thumped their desks in joy when the minister told Mr Narasimham: “If you show some buildings now, we are here to shift AP High Court to Amaravati.” Earlier, Mr Narasimham requested the Centre to take steps for immediate division of the High Court.
