Hyderabad: Engineering student ran over by RTC bus

Hyderabad: A student pursuing her engineering at a private college in Boduppal was mowed down by a speeding RTC bus at Uppal on Friday.

According to Uppal police, Sneha, 21, a final year engineering student at Holy Mary Institute of Technology, was heading home from the college on her two-wheeler along with her friend C. Shruthi on Friday evening from Medipally.

When the bike reached Gandhi statue at Uppal, an RTC bus (AP28 Z 3417)  hit the the bike from the rear.

The duo on the bike fell down on the road and the bus ran over Sneha. She sustained severe injuries and died on the spot. Her friend Shruthi escaped with minor injuries, police said.

Based on a complaint from Shruthi, a case was registered against the bus driver under Sections 304 A (culpable homicide not amounting to murder and 337 (rash and negligent act to endanger human life) and took the driver into custody for the questioning, said the police. Sneha’s body was shifted to Gandhi Hospital for the autopsy.
