Rajahmundry: Security plan for polls at borders ready

Rajahmundry: Andhra Pradesh, Telangana state, Chhattisgarh and Odisha which share common borders are going for simultaneous polls for the first time, and the top brass of the police from all the four states have have chalked out a common action plan to enhance security in the Agency areas. The Maoists have called for a boycott of the elections, scheduled on April 11.
Senior police officers including Warangal IGP Y. Nagi Reddy, AP’s Eluru range DIG C.M. Trivikrama Varma, SPs from the districts of East Godavari, Bhupalapalli, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Sukma in Chhattisgarh and Malkanjgiri of Odisha held a series of meetings at Eluru, Bhadrachalam, Jagadalpur in Chhattisgarh, and Koraput in Odisha over the last few days to chalk out the action plan to tackle left wing extremism.
AP additional DGP (Greyhounds) Nalin Prabhat along with senior officials reviewed the preparedness of the police personnel in Agency areas like Chintur and Rampachodavaram in East Godavari on March 20 via a video conference from Kakinada to ensure that security was arranged at polling stations in interior villages.
Police sources said that for the first time, the senior police officers from several states are holding inter-state meetings at periodic intervals and reviewing the preparedness of the force.
In Andhra Pradesh, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari and West Godavari are listed as vulnerable to Left wing extremism, and there is more stress on Visakhapatnam and East Godavari as they share a common border with Telangana, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha.
