Have one nation one procurement policy: Telangana minister

PEDDAPALLI: Welfare minister Koppula Eshwar has demanded that BJP-led government at the centre follow one nation one procurement policy.
Addressing a press conference during his visit to Peddapalli district on Wednesday, he pointed out that while the centre procured the entire paddy produced by Punjab and Haryana, it is refusing to do the same when it comes to Telangana.
The minister underlined that this amounts to showing discrimination between one region of the country and another, depending on what suits the interests of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party at the centre. “Does this not amount to harassing farmers of Telangana,” he asked.
Eshwar maintained that BJP is behaving differently when it comes to states without disclosing facts to people. In addition, it is blaming the states by making unnecessary allegations. He said comments made by state BJP chief Bandi Sanjay and other leaders on procurement of paddy is raising doubts among people whether they belong to Telangana or other states.
The minister said if BJP government at the centre remains stubborn on not purchasing paddy from Telangana farmers, TRS government led by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will announce its action plan and take up massive agitations in days to come.
Zilla Parishad chairman Putta Madhukar, Ramagundam MLA Korakanti Chander Patel, libraries department chairman Raghuveer Singh and ZPTCs Ram Murthy, Bandari Srinivas and Raj Kumar were among those present.
