Bengaluru: Minister HK Patil's website hacked
Culprits, alleged to be Pakistanis, denounce India's stand on Kashmir.
Bengaluru: Rural Development and Panchayat Raj minister H.K. Patil and his followers were in for a shock on Sunday when his personal website hkpatil.com was hacked allegedly by Pakistani hackers.
All he could see on his website was a message, which read, "Stop killing children, raping women and imprisoning the men! They just want freedom! Freedom from the evil of the Indian military." They were apparently referring to to Jammu and Kashmir and its people.
The message that ended with "Pakistan Zindabad" had an email id catch.if.you.can@hotmail.com and the hacker claimed himself to be Muhammad Bilal.
The shocked minister approached the city cyber crime police and lodged a complaint, saying the hacking incident has dented his image.
The minister stated in his complaint that the website, developed in 2014, is being used to spread information about government schemes, particularly those related to his ministry.
Around 3 pm on Saturday, the minister got a call from someone informing about his website being hacked and anti-national content posted on it. The minister opened the website only to find the actual data missing and anti-national content being put up by the hackers.
The website now says it is under construction, but the page description on Google still has the hacker's message.
Cyber crime police have registered a complaint under Section 66 C (Identity theft) of The Information Technology Act, 2000, 295A (Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage reli-gious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) and 504 (Insult intended to provoke breach of the peace).
