Hyderabad: The TS agriculture department on Monday distributed tabs to staff to ensure the entry of complete details as part of the  door-to-door survey of farmers being conducted across the state since May 10.

Agriculture minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy distributed over 2,000 tabs to agriculture extension officers.

The survey is being done to extend financial assistance of Rs 8,000 per acre per year from 2018 under a scheme announced by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao last month.

The survey will be done till June 10. The field staff had been collecting details and recording manually. It was observed that while entering the data into digital format, the data entry operators were were making mistakes due to various reasons like not understanding the handwriting of some officers or, in some cases, the operators were entering wrong data in a hurry to complete the task faster.

To overcome this problem, the government has supplied tabs to officials who were assigned enumeration duties for survey.

“This will ensure foolproof survey. There are chances of manipulating the details in manual method.  This is not possible as officials will visit households and enter the details in the tab on the spot. After details are filled, they can lock the application after which no one can make any changes,” said Mr Reddy.

The minister also launched a Mobile App specially designed for taking up survey.
