Vijayawada: Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas (Nani) was  at it again on Mnday, alleging that he had never seen such lawlessness and corruption in the transport department during the Congress regime. While Mr Srinivas has a running feud with the department, with regard to his Kesineni Travels, his remarks forced the state government to put up a defence.

His case was that buses which are responsible for the deaths of police personnel on duty were registered either in Arunachal Pradesh or Nagaland, where the transport departments have no proper mechanism like in AP and Telangana states. These buses violate height and length norms, he claimed.

A police constable was run over by a large bus in CK Dinne mandal limits of Kadapa district on April 10. In another incident in July 29, last year, in West Godavari district, a police constable was hit by an Orange Travels bus. The bus was registered in Arunachal Pradesh. He asked why the state transport commissioner was not filing cases against the 1,000 buses, which were registered in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Puducherry, and violating Central Motor Vehicle Rules.
