Hyderabad: In a curious case, Satyam Ralhan, whose parents neither have any connection with the Telugu states nor stayed in the two states at any point of time, got the eighth rank in TS Eamcet engineering stream. He also stood five places above to get the third rank in AP Eamcet exam.

Satyam has given his address as Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu. According to rules, the state entrance test bars other state students from writing the exam. JNTU-Hyderabad officials said they would speak to his family and get more details to see if his rank can be considered for admission.

Meanwhile, the student’s father Rajesh Ralhan, who hails from the North and an engineer by profession in Chennai, stated that his son was staying in Vijayawada for the last five years. “He has been a meritorious student and we admitted him in Class VIII in a corporate residential school after learning that the standard of high school and intermediate education was very high in Vijayawada,” he said.
