Bed capacity in ENT hospital full, patients kept in shelter homes
Our bed capacity is 120 but we already admitted 150 patients
HYDERABAD: The bed capacity in ENT Hospital is full as there are already more than 200 patients with black fungus. Steps are being taken to increase the bed capacity so that the patients who are coming from districts can be accommodated.
There are many patients who are coming late in the evening and a shelter home has been created where relatives and new patients are staying at night.
A junior doctor, on condition of anonymity, said, "Our bed capacity is 120 but we already admitted 150 patients. There is an extra facility being created. There are expectations that there will be a heavy influx next week as many doctors from districts are referring these patients to the nodal centre."
Those patients admitted in ENT Hospital are being handled by a team of specialists comprising eye, kidney and heart specialists. Doctors state that there are sufficient stocks in government hospitals of amphotericin B. Daily surgeries are being carried out and the patients are immediately put on medication, stated doctors.
