Dry weather returns, rains to vanish

Hyderabad: The effects of Monday’s rainfall were short-lived, as the cool and foggy morning on Tuesday turned into a hot and sunny afternoon. The city recorded a maximum temperature of 41.7 degrees Celsius (°C), at Gachibowli, followed by 40.7°C at Shaikpet and 40.2°C at Bandlaguda.

The mercury level stayed high statewide, with a maximum temperature of 44.7°C recorded at Peddapalle, followed by 44.4°C at Adilabad and 44.1°C at Mancherial.

Medak, Nalgonda, Ranga Reddy, Sangareddy, Siddipet, Nagarkurnool, Jangaon, Hanamkonda and Jogulamba Gadwal districts received light to moderate rains and thundershowers with lightning in the evening.

The IMD said that a north-south trough from Vidarbha to interior Karnataka would bring more rains to Telangana over the next two days. Thereafter, dry weather will prevail, IMD said.

The IMD issued an orange alert for five days for Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Nagakurnool, Jagtial, Mancherial, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Pedapalle, Rajanna-Sircilla, Nalgonda, Suryapet and Khammam district, with the maximum temperature likely at about 44°C. The rest of the state is predicted to experience temperatures of 36-40°C.

The city will have a partly cloudy sky, with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be around 40°C and 27°C, respectively, accompanied by south-easterly surface winds of 4-8 kmph.
