PSLV launch: PM, President hail Isro scientists

Modi took to Twitter to share his views on the launch of satellites.

Chennai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday congratulated Isro scientists for successful launch of 20 satellites in a single launch with special thanks to students of Chennai’s Sathyabama University and Pune Engineering College for their participation.

Within minutes of the PSLV C-34 blasting off from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota near here,  Modi took to Twitter to share his views on the launch of satellites. “20 satellites in a go! @ISRO continues to break new barriers. Hearty congratulations to our scientists on the monumental accomplishment. Our space programme has time and again shown the transformative potential of science & technology in people’s lives,” he said.

In a special mention about participation of educational institutions in the launch, Modi said: “Saw with immense joy that students from institutions in Pune & Chennai played a role in the making of satellites. This touched me.”

President Pranab Mukherjee said, “I understand that images received from the Cartosat-2 will be useful in providing scene-specific spot imagery that can be used for detailed mapping and other cartographic applications” congratulating Isro.
