Clinching it? SIT to take Parashuram Waghmore to Sene office
Cops to question family for clues on Dabholkar, Pansare murders.
Belagavi: The SIT, investigating the murder of journalist Gauri Lankesh, is shuttling from one place to another over the past few days along with the main accused Parashuram Waghmore, in an attempt to gather clinching evidence that could help them nail him.
After the rigorous drills which the SIT conducted at Khanapur forests along with Waghmore on Wednesday, a team of SIT visited Sindagi, his hometown, on Thursday evening to interrogate some more people and the family of Waghmore. Sources said, the team was expected to meet some relatives of Waghmore besides visiting the office of Sri Ram Sena in the town. The local police did confirm the visit of SIT officials to Sindagi in the evening but declined to divulge more information.
Attempts will be made by the SIT to trace the possible links of Waghmore to the deaths of rationalists Dabholkar and Pansare in neighbouring Maharashtra by questioning the family and friends of Waghmore in Sindagi, said police sources. None of the local officers were aware of where in Khanapur Waghmore was taken for the investigation.
The SIT officials are expected to travel to more places in Vijayapura district in the next few days to obtain information about the links of Waghmore, if any, to the killings of Dhabolkar and Pansare.
