Hyderabad: Unable to cope up with the poor ranking of her EAMCET result for the second time, 19-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging on Wednesday at Rajendranagar.

G. Suresh, inspector of Rajendranagar police station said that Shivani, 19, was an Intermediate student who was depressed over her poor EAMCET ranking, which led her to take this step.

Chandraiah, father of the victim who runs a Kirana store said that Shivani was sad about getting a rank below 15,000 in the recent EAMCET results, as compared to her earlier rank of 6,000 in last year's exam. “She wanted admission into B.Sc Agriculture Studies. But, after the results were announced, she was unhappy. On Wednesday she told her mother that she is going to the first floor to take a nap, but when she did not return until evening, we went to check and found her hanging,” said the father.

“When Shivani told her parents about going upstairs, they thought she wanted some time to recover from the depression she was going through after her results,” added the official. Officials also found a suicide note which had the words “I want to die” written 15 to 20 times,” said G. Suresh.

A case has been registered at the Rajendranagar police station under Section 174 of Cr.PC (suspicious death).
