Sri Sairam Engineering College students amaze Indore with innovation
The vehicle is designed for attaining more efficiency, mainly focused to increase the charging capacity and life of the battery.
Chennai: Students from Sri Sairam Engineering College college shined bright recently in national level competitions and emerged winners in most of them.
In Sae Baja, which is a national level intercollegiate design competition conducted for the benefit of engineering students in every year at NATRIP track located in Pitampur, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, with the goal of designing and fabricating all-terrain vehicle of their own efforts, students from mechanical engineering department, Sri Sairam Engineering college won two awards namely Marketing and Sales Presentation award and Go Green award along with cash prize of Rs 1 lakh among 250 teams that participated from various institutions all over the country.
“The vehicle is designed with high power to weight ratio, special type of suspension system and modifications in power transmission systems and less emissions. It also has customized calibers for breaking,” said one of the faculty members from the department.
Also, students belonging to mechanical, electrical, electronics and electronics and instrumentation engineering branch fabricated a vehicle run by solar energy. They designed and fabricated the vehicle on the college premises, which is suitable for all weather conditions in order to face the challenges of fuel crisis and global warming.
“The vehicle is designed for attaining more efficiency, mainly focused to increase the charging capacity and life of the battery. Special type of panels were used to tap maximum solar energy and to monitor the mode of power transmission,” said team captain K.Karan.
Adding to this, innovation head, K.Ashwinn said that the vehicle is equipped with human machine interface, driver finger print authentication, blind spot detection and IOS applications for car.
Apart from this, a group of electronics and communication engineering branch students with the theme ‘Game on Road Safety’ had participated in Smart India Hackathon 2018 event along with 598 teams and secured fourth.
Sai Prakash Leo Muthu, chief executive officer, Sairam Group of Institutions, appreciated the students for having won the awards and sponsored a total amount of '15 lakh on behalf of management to meet the expenditure for fabrication of vehicles.
“The students will be getting the opportunity for having placed in automobile industries in addition to developing their skills and talents by participating in these type of competitions,” he said.
