Bengaluru: Two killed after accidentally falling off a multi-floor pub
Window glass on which woman stumbled was of sub-standard quality.
Bengaluru: In a tragic incident, a 36-year-old man and his woman friend died after they accidentally fell off the second floor of a pub located at the Church Street on Friday night.
The deceased have been identified as Pawan Attavar, who worked with a news publication company, and his friend Vedha R Yadav (28), a software engineer with a reputed MNC.
According to police, the duo was stepping down the stairs of Beir pub on Commercial Street after finishing a party and were allegedly drunk. As they were stepping down, Vedha lost balance and stumbled upon the window glass and landed on the ground after crashing window glass. Pawan who went to her rescue, also fell off. While Vedha died on the spot, Pawan was rushed to Bowring Hospital where he succumbed to the injuries.
The Cubbon Park Police have taken up a case against the building owner, licence holder and the pub manager for their negligence. City Police Commissioner Alok Kumar who was on night rounds was coincidentally outside the same pub where the incident happened. Preliminary investigation revealed that the window glass was of sub-standard quality which immediately broke after Vedha stumbled upon it. A video of the incident which has gone viral shows Pawan falling on a portico just below the window and then crashing onto the ground.
The bodies of the two victims have been sent for post mortem. The police have begun an investigation and have questioned the pub staff in connection with the accident.
