Vellamandi Natarajan lauds 2-wheeler maker’s road safety programmes

In her address, State Backward Classes minister Mrs. Valarmathi urged the students and general public to utilise the park to avoid road accidents.

Tiruchy: State Tourism minister Vellamandi Natarajan has lauded the efforts of Honda Motorcycles & Scooter India Pvt Ltd. (HMSPL) for its role in educating the people and students on road safety free of cost.

Declaring open the 14th traffic park adopted by the HMSPL at Tiruchy on Saturday, Mr. Natarajan said the park was established at a cost of `1.81 crore under the self-sufficiency scheme and the HMSPL will maintain it.

In her address, State Backward Classes minister Mrs. Valarmathi urged the students and general public to utilise the park to avoid road accidents.

Speaking on the occasion, HMSPL’s vice president, Brand and Communication Prabhu Nagaraj said that they were promoting road safety in the country since 2001, and already 26 lakh persons have been covered by their awareness programmes so far.

He said under their CSR commitment, Honda’s safety ride programmes were held daily at its 14 adopted traffic parks including New Delhi, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Yeolaa, Hyderabad Chennai, Ludhiana, Coimbatore, Karnal, Thane, and Tiruchy.

Among others, Tiruchy collector S. Sivarasu, city police commissioner Dr Amalraj,  corporation commissioner N. Ravichandran, and HMSPL’s director, general & corporate affairs, spoke.

Earlier, deputy commissioner of Police (Crime & Traffic) Arun welcomed the gathering, while District Rural Development Agency’s project director R. Sankar proposed a vote of thanks.
