Srinagar: Seven Jammu and Kashmir policemen were injured when armymen in civilian dress thrashed them at Gund in northern district of Ganderbal late Friday night, after an altercation at a checkpost over movement of the latter’s four private vehicles returning from the Amarnath pilgrimage beyond the permissible deadline.
A case of attempt to murder, causing hurt and criminal conspiracy has been registered, the police said on Saturday.
The soldiers, questioned by police at the Gund checkpost, later called in colleagues from the 24 Rashtriya Rifles and over 30 of them went to the Gund police station nearby and beat up the staff. The incident evoked angry responses from former CM Omar Abdullah and others.
