PALAKKAD: The district police chief and Palakkad district collector have given a report to the State Human Rights Commission categorically stating that there is no caste discrimination against the Dalit Chakkaliya community in the Ambedkar Colony in Muthalamada. Superintendent of police Pratheesh Kumar and collector P. Marykutty has said that even after holding adalats and visits of different government officials including the SP himself, it was found that the allegations of casteism were the handiwork of some persons who want to take political mileage by raising caste issues.

The report was filed before the commission member K. Mohankumar in the sitting held here on Thursday. The complainant in the matter Youth Congress leader Boban Mattumantha alleged that Chakkaliya leader Sivaraj has backed off from his complaints and did not attend  their calls over the phone to intimate him about the SHRC sitting. Meanwhile, Mr Sivaraj told DC that the report was unacceptable and it was due to the political pressure that the top officials submitted such a report by overlooking the caste issue.
