Neet-UG delay upsets aspirants
MCI keeps counselling in abeyance.
Hyderabad: Neet-UG aspirants are suffering as NEET-2018 counselling process is kept in abeyance by the Medical Council of India (MCI) as per the directions of the Mumbai High Court. All the candidates, institutes, college and universities of online counseling have been informed by the MCI about the stay. Neet aspirants alleged that this will delay their commencement of new academic year 2018-2019 as it will start on August 1, 2018.
M. Srijita, a Neet aspirant said, “The agony and pain continues for the medical stream candidates. The counselling is kept in abeyance by the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC). We want justice and we can’t suffer anymore. Don’t we aspirants deserve some peace and happiness? The next court hearing is on July 26 until then results of second phase of counselling will not be released.”
Another aspirant, G. Sandeep, said, “The matter in the Mumbai High Court pertains to ESIC quota because petitioner name is in different category in ESIC from what the petitioner has claimed; but why should they stop all the counselling for a case which is only for ESIC quota. This is injustice to the other aspirants like us.”
Dr P.S. Vijayender, secretary, Junior Doctors Associations (JUDA) said, “To avoid such confusions among the NEET aspirants and their parents, the government should provide every minute detail in the brochure because the aspirants are filing many petitions due to confusion and their doubts due to which others are suffering. So, if the government provides all the details, they will not have these doubts and with this the court cases can be avoided and pressure due to court cases and delay in the counselling process can be avoided.”
Dr B. Karunakar Reddy, Vice-Chancellor, Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences, said, “There are 3,300 seats in Telangana state and we have already filled in 3,000 seats and the rest will be filled in the second phase of counselling. The stay of Mumbai High Court will most probably be vacated on Tuesday and the moment it happens, the results of the second phase of allotment will be released as the results are ready.”
