Enumeration of damage starts in flood-affected areas
Officials are finding it difficult to clean overhead tanks due to inundation in many villages
KAKINADA: With Godavari waters receding and water levels reducing to 13.7 feet on Friday, officials of various departments have started enumerating losses.
More than 200 medical teams are providing treatment to flood-hit victims in districts of Alluri Seetharama Raju, Konaseema, East and West Godavari and Kakinada.
Victims of floods in ST, BC and Oda Bazar colonies are complaining of miserable sanitary conditions.
Officials are finding it difficult to clean overhead tanks due to inundation in many villages. They are, however, distributing drinking water packets to victims. Some voluntary organisations supplied essential commodities to the flood-hit victims. SDRF and NDRF teams are also continuing to help victims by supplying commodities to them in boats.
ASR district collector Sumit Kumar instructed officials to submit their enumeration reports by July 25. He pointed out that power supply has been restored at Chinturu, Guduru, Mallethota, Chatti, Edugurallapalli and other areas.
Flood rehabilitation commissioner Praveen Kumar said all villages will be supplied pure drinking water in West Godavari district by reinstating all RWS schemes within 48 hours. He said water has receded except in three villages of the district.
Konaseema collector Himanshu Shukla instructed officials to enumerate damage caused by floods to commercial crops, vegetables and paddy fields in the district.
