Siddaramaiah's nod to modify recruitment rules
Only candidates who have qualified in the mains examination are eligible to appear in the personality test. So far, the ratio was 1:3.
Bengaluru: Following the recent ruling of the Karnataka High Court, Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah on Monday approved an amendment to the Karnataka Recruitment of Gazetted Probationers (Appointed by Competitive Examinations) Rules for increasing the number of eligible candidates appearing for personality tests from 1:3 to 1:5 during the appointment of Gazetted Probationers’ ‘A’ and ‘B’ categories of posts.
Mr Siddaramaiah who chaired a meeting with the KPSC officials and officials of the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR) also decided to relax the norms for getting a state government job including those in state run boards and corporations.
The Karnataka State Public Service Commission (KPSC) conducts preliminary and main examination and personality tests for filling Gazetted Probationers’ ‘A’ and ‘B’ posts. Only candidates who have qualified in the mains examination are eligible to appear in the personality test. So far, the ratio was 1:3.
The increase in the number of candidates would increase the competition among candidates during personality tests. It is learnt that the decision would benefit thousands of candidates, particularly those from rural areas.
It was also decided to amend the rules to make all those who have passed their degree exam, eligible for appointment in government run boards and corporations.
The previous 60 per cent (first class) qualification necessary to apply for a job in the boards will be removed. These amendments will now be brought before the legislature for its approval whenever the next legislature session is convened.
