INX Media case: Karti Chidambaram arrives at CBI headquarters in Delhi
On Aug 14, SC said Karti would not be allowed to leave India without subjecting himself to investigation in corruption case.
New Delhi: Karti Chidambaram, son of former Union minister P Chidambaram, on Wednesday reached Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) headquarter in New Delhi in connection with INX Media case.
The Supreme Court had on August 18 directed Karti Chidambaram, to appear before the CBI in New Delhi on August 23 for interrogation in connection with a case involving alleged kickbacks of Rs 5 crore paid by INX Media for obtaining clearance from the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) in 2007.
Earlier, Karti submitted before the apex court bench that he is willing to appear before the CBI in the case.
"I am not afraid of appearing, but I need protection," Karti told SC.
A bench of Chief Justice of India JS Khehar and Justice DY Chandrachud directed that Karti, who was present in the courtroom, to carry with him all the necessary documents required for his defence in the case.
The apex court had on August 14 said that Karti would not be allowed to leave India without subjecting himself to investigation in the corruption case.
